At Muuto, we strive to create new perspectives on Scandinavian design. Pushing this notion forward is our Photo Essays—a format that serves to perceive Scandinavian design through the individual lens and scope of photographers from across the world. For the first edition, Copenhagen-based photographer Simon Heger Knudsen shares his perspective through coastal settings on a brisk autumn day.

The beach of Bellevue north of Copenhagen was the first place that came to the mind of Heger Knudsen when thinking of a location to shoot his photo essay for Muuto. Speaking on the place, he says: ”Growing up, I always came here with family and friends year round—swimming in the summer and walking along the cold beach through winter,” adding: ”The architecture up here is iconic, designed by the Danish masters. It made the beach seem like a natural choice for the essay, joining traditional values with a new outlook on things.” Featured in his essay is the Ripple Throw, Varjo Rug and Visu Lounge Chair.
