    Photo Essay

    Clear Shadows
    by Tekla
    Evelina Severin

At Muuto, we strive to create new perspectives on Scandinavian design. Pushing this notion forward is our Photo Essays—perceiving Scandinavian design through the individual lens and scope of photographers from across the world. For the third edition, Stockholm-based creative Tekla Evelina Severin shares her perspective on The Dots through a study of colors and shadows.

The first thing that comes to mind when looking at the portfolio of Tekla Evelina Severin is color—something that shines through in her photo essay for Muuto. On her approach to the essay, she says: “When I worked as an interior architect, a lot of my time was spent planning and perceiving things in a straight-forward way. Now, working creatively within photography and design, I’ve become obsessed with rediscovering objects beyond their traditional functions. What do they become when you show them from a new perspective?”

When selecting a Muuto design for her photo essay, The Dots by Norwegian designer Lars Tornøe was a natural choice for her—an iconic design with a sculptural character in various colors: “I found The Dots appealing for the photo essay due to their perfectly formed and almost 3D-like circles—an element that I wanted to explore further through shadows and colors.”

Tekla Evelina Severin is a Stockholm-based interior architect, working within art direction, set design and photography. For more of her work, please visit her Instagram.
