Each element is cast as one piece, resulting in seamless jointand a smooth, tactile surface. The terrazzo itself has a slightly textured finish — cool to the touch, with subtle variations that reveal the natural stone aggregate embedded within.

“With the Halves Coffee Table, we wanted to work with terrazzo not just as a surface, but as a substance,” says Jonathan Sabine of MSDS Studio. “It’s a material with permanence — timeless, architectural, and not overly refined.”

The design was shaped by this material logic from the beginning. As Sabine explains, “Terrazzo has this grounded, almost geological feel. The form we created lets that material speak — it’s simple, but not symmetrical. There’s a slight imbalance that gives it identity.”

The intersecting base offers visual interest while forming a practical and playful display stand — useful for storing books, trays, or keeping the tabletop clear. Whether used as a coffee table, or display stand, Halves unites architectural presence with everyday functionality.

The coffee table is crafted from high-quality, cement-based terrazzo and treated with a water- and oil-repellent stone sealer. Terrazzo consists of natural stone chips set in a resilient cement matrix, resulting in subtle variations in pattern, color, and texture that make each table unique.

Made for long-term use, Halves is suited to both indoor and outdoor settings. Outdoors, the surface will naturally weather and develop a distinctive patina over time — a gradual evolution shaped by climate and use. Indoors, it functions as a sturdy, low-maintenance centerpiece. Plastic glides under the base protect both hard and soft flooring.

Available in light taupe or off-white, Halves complements a range of interiors and architectural spaces. Its sculptural shape and neutral tones make it easy to place — from open-air patios to quiet living rooms. A durable design, grounded in materiality and made to last.
