“The initial ideas for the Oslo Sofa Series came while travelling a lot in Japan, drawing references from the sophisticated and vibrant lines of its architecture," says designer Torbjørn Anderssen, standing in the duo's studio in the Grünerløkka area of Oslo, and adds: "Oslo is a new perspective to the contemporary sofa through its sculptural curves for a light and airy sentiment, paired with a deep comfort."
Speaking on the evolution of the Oslo design, Espen Voll says: "Over the years, the Oslo family has grown naturally to include a bench, pouf and lounge chair, complementing the existing sofa design. Creating the Oslo Side Chair was something else. We wanted to translate the ideas and values of the Oslo Sofa into a chair that you could sit comfortably in for hours, while taken up little space in the room."
"The Oslo Side Chair creates a new perspective on the traditional form with its rounded softness and gentle seat—a friendly design for any setting of the modern home, restaurant and workplace," notes Anderssen with Voll adding: "Something that's really interesting about the design is how its expression can be changed through its bases; the chrome base gives it a very contemporary sentiment while the anthracite one has a more understated and simple look."
