This vision is evident in every aspect of the Settle series, from its sleek lines to its robust construction. The materials used in the Settle series are meticulously chosen to ensure durability and resistance to various weather conditions.
Espen Voll explains, "Our goal was to design outdoor furniture that withstands the elements while maintaining its elegance and functionality." This commitment is reflected in the use of high-quality textiles from Maharam and a weather-resistant wood structure, ensuring longevity.
Upholstered outdoor furniture has a rich history dating back to the 1960s and 70s, particularly in Norway. Over time, durable and elegant outdoor furniture was overshadowed by less durable, plastic alternatives. Recognizing a growing demand for high-quality outdoor furniture, Anderssen & Voll have brought a new perspective to this tradition.
In recent years, there has been a resurgence in the popularity of upholstered outdoor furniture, driven by a desire for refined and comfortable outdoor living spaces. The Settle series embodies this trend, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor use.
"Today we build environments outdoors that are more similar to indoors. It's not just three chairs and a small table any longer. You should sit well when you gather outdoors, able to stay for a whole evening," the duo explains.
Settle beautifully captures the essence of blending comfort with elegance in outdoor furniture. Drawing inspiration from their Scandinavian roots, the series stands out with its minimalist design, prioritizing both functionality and aesthetics.
“The tubular steel and supporting textile bands are a nod to classic traits of outdoor furniture, while the upholstery and tailored details lean on the feel of indoor sofas and lounge chairs," says Torbjørn Anderssen. This fusion creates a light, contemporary, and distinctly Scandinavian feel.
Espen Voll elaborates on their innovative approach: “We experimented a lot with the metal tubes and how they intersect to make up the constructive base for the products. The tubes make an interesting path for the eye to follow, discovering how the metal structure nests and holds the inner upholstery. We really appreciate the transparency of the construction."
The Settle series' magic lies in its ingenious details. The wooden armrests are generous and inviting, providing a warm space to rest an arm or a drink, seamlessly integrating function and form, offering a refined solution for modern outdoor living spaces.
